Hi. There is a story problem I’m confused on….
A pottery shop makes glazed and unglazed bowls. An unglazed bowl requires half an hour to make on a pottery wheel and 3 hours in the kiln. A glazed bowl takes 1 hour on the wheel and 18 hours in the kiln. The company has one wheel that is available for 8 hours a day. The three kilns can be used a total of 60 hours per day. The shop needs at least 6 unglazed bowls per day. The pottery shop’s profit on each unglazed bowl is $10 and the profit on each glazed one is $40. How many of each kind of bowl should the shop produce in order to maximize profit?
Question:
Write a system of inequalities that reflect the above constraints and include any commen sense contraints. X represents # of unglazed and Y represents # of glazed.
So far, I have the inquality x ≥ 6, but I don’t know what other ones there are. I know that there are constraints on the time that the equipment is available, but I don’t know how I would put that into an inequality.
Thanks so much!
How many inequalities are there supposed to be total?
